Sophia Loren, the 89-year-old Italian actress who won an Oscar, was hospitalized on Sunday after falling at her residence in Geneva, Switzerland. She sustained fractures to her hip and thigh bone, according to her agent Andrea Giusti, who informed CNN.
Giusti stated, "The surgery went very well," and added that they are currently in a waiting period.
A restaurant chain bearing her name provided an update on her condition via social media, stating that Loren is recuperating after "successful surgery." The Sophia Loren Restaurant, in an Instagram post, expressed relief that the procedure went smoothly and wished her a swift recovery.
The Italian public broadcaster RAI reported that Loren had been scheduled to inaugurate the new branch of the Sophie Loren restaurant chain in Bari on Tuesday. This would be the fourth location in Italy, following Milan, Florence, and Rome Fiumicino.
