Jerome Ford Set to Claim Top RB Spot Following Nick Chubb Injury

Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Tuesday that Jerome Ford will now serve as the team's primary running back following the season-ending injury to Nick Chubb.

Chubb, an All-Pro running back, sustained a left knee injury during the second quarter of Monday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and had to be carted off the field. While Stefanski didn't specify the exact nature of Chubb's injury, he confirmed that Chubb would require surgery.

Stefanski also mentioned that the Browns are in the process of considering the addition of another player to the running back group, but for the time being, Jerome Ford will assume the role of Cleveland's primary running back.

Kareem Hunt, a free agent running back who played for the Browns over the past four seasons, reportedly visited the team on Tuesday in response to Chubb's injury, according to sources.

In Monday's game, Jerome Ford showcased his abilities by rushing for 106 yards on 16 carries, which included a 69-yard run that set up a Browns touchdown. He also contributed with three receptions for 25 yards and caught a touchdown pass immediately following Chubb's injury.

Stefanski acknowledged the challenge of replacing a player of Nick Chubb's caliber, stating, "You don't replace Nick Chubb. You just don't do that. Great players in the league, you look around, they go out. It's always not one person that replaces a player of [Chubb's] caliber. So, everybody's got to do a little bit more, a little bit more everywhere."
