Christian Pulisic has kicked off his time with AC Milan on a positive note.
The U.S. forward recently transferred from Chelsea to Milan in July and on Monday, he marked his debut in Serie A against Bologna. In the 21st minute of the match, he showcased his worth with a display that justified his €20 million ($21.9 million) transfer fee.
While Milan was leading 1-0, Pulisic passed the ball to Olivier Giroud during a transition. Giroud promptly returned the pass to Pulisic, who skillfully dribbled the ball to the upper right corner of the penalty area. From that position, he took a shot.
Even though goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski made a diving attempt to block the shot, he was unable to stop it. The ball soared past him and found the back left corner of the net, securing a 2-0 lead for Milan and Pulisic's inaugural Serie A goal.
Notably, Pulisic's contribution wasn't limited to just this goal. Earlier, in the 11th minute, he delivered a pass from the right corner of the box to Tijjani Reijnders on the left baseline. Reijnders promptly returned the ball to Giroud, who scored Milan's first goal from the right corner of the penalty area.
Although Pulisic's assist didn't show up on the official score sheet, it played a pivotal role in setting up Milan's opening goal in their 2-0 victory.
Pulisic's talents were in high demand as Chelsea saw some talent depart during the summer transfer window. Despite competition from Lyon in France, the 23-year-old ultimately chose Milan as his new club and made a quick impact with his debut performance in Serie A.
